Did you know Cleethorpes was once at the centre of the UK Oyster Trade? Renowned for ‘large & cheap’ oysters that were sold across the UK during the 1800’s.
By the early 1900’s our oysters were in rapid decline due to pollution and overfishing resulting in the loss of native oyster populations in Cleethorpes and the Humber Estuary.
Join us for a fascinating insight of Cleethorpes Oyster Heritage with a walk out to the oyster beds in the Humber Estuary. Be prepared to wade through water, creeks and muddy patches led by expert guides.
• Thursday 9th October
• 12 – 3pm – safety briefing at LaCuna from 12pm with walk expected to start 12.30/1pm.
