Adrian Riley - The Eavesdropper gone online!
Due to sadly not being able to be present at our wonderful stall space at Grimsby Top Town Market Adrian Riley our third #ArtintheMarket artist has taken his residency online.
We’ve challenge the ‘eavesdropper’ to take his residency online!
Adrian Riley is an artist -designer with 15+ yrs working on public-facing art projects including permanent public artworks and temporary projects such as an artist in residence and immersive art projects.
The focal point of his work is words, particularly words collected from the immediate environment, be that via engagement or ‘found’ text (this might be visual or aural).
He looks for text that is specific to the location or the person but has a wider resonance for people who will view the work, sometimes combined with icon-based imagery that can lend additional potential resonances to the text or provide a framework for initially disparate content.
In the same way that the content for his work has usually been given for free and with a generosity that allows him to use it in a new context, it is always his intention for people to take something away from my work, be that a thought or feeling or even a physical object – this has led to artworks involving tickets free for people to take away, postcards with images and words from local residents distributed randomly around a town, an empty shop stocked with the ‘priceless things’ of the local community, and a tree that talked to you.
