#Let’s Create Jubilee Fund with Laceby Community, Grimsby

Laceby family picnic

Our Big Picture was awarded funding from the Arts Council’s #Let’s Create Jubilee Fund by Lincolnshire Community Foundation – ensuring that creativity played an important role in local community celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Our Big Picture worked in partnership with The Laceby Community Collective and Laceby Parish Council to deliver the project.

The activity included community bunting-making sessions – with bunting made from historic and present-day photographic images and hand prints of children in the foundation and year one from Stanford School, Laceby.

On the afternoon and evening of Thursday 2nd June at Butt Lane playing field, the community was invited to the ‘Firing up your Jubilee’ event that included food, music, village games, crown and flag making, stilt walking, bubbles, cake competition, circus skills, and fire performance and finished off with the lighting of the beacon.

It was a great success with over 1700 people attending. The local community came together to celebrate the Jubilee weekend, but importantly the village community spirit!

About the fund
The Let’s Create Jubilee Fund will support voluntary and community groups to develop creative and cultural activities as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. The fund has been created by Arts Council England (ACE) with funds from the National Lottery. The fund is open to voluntary and community organisations with charitable aims and working towards a common goal which does not have to be based solely around arts and culture. This could include youth groups, parent/carer groups and volunteer organisations.
