#myfishGY Artist Commission Brief

myfishgy-sponsor-logos

#myfishGY is a project that aims to provide a unique opportunity to transform Grimsby into a vibrant town centre where heritage and creativity are enjoyed. It aims to engage the local community in a large-scale creative project that will culminate in a mapped animated projection in October 2022 on some of Grimsby’s biggest landmarks.

Our Big Picture, partnering with Event Show Support CIC, would like to commission an artist to work on a public engagement project in two parts.

Commission Part 1: We need a ‘Lonesome Fish’ identity creating to form part of the project branding, which can also be used as a container for public engagement and will be suitable to be projected onto large public buildings. The artist will also work with school children in Grimsby to create one fish from all of the separate artworks. The artwork will be scanned and projected in early February.

Commission Part 2: The artist will lead workshops in and around Grimsby, with participants, who will create their own fish. Each of the fish created, whether they are paper, ceramic, wood, metal, textiles will be scanned by the #myfishGY team, ready for a final animated light projection.

The artist will need to be a confident and inspirational leader, who can work on their own with a diverse range of people in Grimsby. We will arrange groups for the artist to work with.
